About Parul University

The Micro Nano Research and Development Center at Parul University, Vadodara, was established in 2024 under the auspices of the Industries Commissionerate, Government of Gujarat. This center was funded through the Scheme for Assistance for Research & Development Activities, under Gujarat Industrial Policy 2020. It is set to become a leading R&D Center for cutting-edge research and innovation in micro and nano technologies.

Prof. Silva joined Surrey in 1995 after completing his degrees at Cambridge University. His research interests span nanotechnology, large-area electronics, and renewables. With research funding in excess of £50M, he has pioneered key patents on low-temperature growth of carbon nanotubes and large-area nanotube-organic solar cells.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK) and the National Academy of Sciences Sri Lanka. In recognition of his contributions to science, he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2021 Queen’s New Year Honours list.
